We were all assigned to post a web 2.0 tool on our wikispaces. It was really interesting to see what tools were posted and by who. This was great to share all of our experiences through our web 2.0 tools. By far my favorite one was the one Alicia posted with the music clips. I thought this one was hilarious and it would be really fun to use in a classroom. I know through experience, children love anything that involves music and singing. This would be a great tool to make sentence structure work fun and exciting.
These web 2.0 tools are a great resource for teachers to use in the classroom. As new teachers, we could use all the resources we can get our hands on. I think the Wikispaces and Google Reader are great places for us to post our resources that we find and want to share.
I enjoyed the Web 2.0 presentations also. The music clip was awesome. I agree that Web 2.0 tools are a good resources and many are free!
ReplyDeleteWeb 2.0 tools are one of the most valuable things I got out of this course - I had NO idea there were so many amazing free technologies out there. Learning about them made me far less cynical about low SES schools and opportunities with technology. I still think there are a lot of issues that need to be addressed, but not having all the latest kid-based software is not such an issue to me anymore since there are so many amazing creative tools online for free. And that was just from looking at each one briefly - when I first found the one I presented I thought it was great for a couple of things, but as I kept exploring it I found more and more useful purposes for it. I am sure many of the other ones we saw are the same way, we just need to have the opportunity to explore them.
ReplyDeleteThanks Katlyn! I've enjoyed playing around with the let them sing it for you. It was a bit embarrassing to say that I put in all the four letter words but it was good to know that it will sing all of them. As Dr. Schmidt said, that will be one of the first things students do :) I really enjoyed seeing all the Web 2.0 things available. I think the web alone offers us some great options for the classroom.
ReplyDeleteThere are so many resources out there - all we have to do is keep sharing them! I always learn a new Web 2.0 tool when we do this. Thanks for sharing!
